Let me start by confirming what you have just read, you can be anxiety free.
I am living proof that you can be anxiety free after suffering from generalised anxiety and intense panic attacks on a daily basis throughout my twenties, over ten years of living in hell, and now finding myself feeling like I am actually in control of my life once again.
Heightened senses, clammy hands, racing heart, catastrophic thoughts racing through your mind then bang your anxiety gauge bubbles over and you want to escape whatever situation you are in. Sound familiar? That’s because despite what you have told yourself in the past you are not the only person who feels like this, you aren’t going crazy or suffering from any terrible illness and your anxiety has no more of a hold on you than anyone else’s has on them, you can be well again.
Modern life is stressful, things will get on top of you at some stage in your life, some times it may feel too much but the feeling is no more than a mind set and you can equip yourself with the tools to enable you to overcome this mindset and ensure that these feelings do not evolve into anxiety or a panic attack.
By my late teens I had experienced anxiety but had put it down to excessive alcohol intake from heavy drinking sessions, by my early twenties I was convinced I was seriously ill or on the verge of a breakdown. Things got worse when I moved to London and found the pace of life hard to deal with.
The feelings of general anxiety heightened and the hustle and bustle of the big city made me a nervous wreck. Everywhere I turned I felt penned in with either people or high rise buildings and I was having panic attacks on a daily basis although it was a good year until I knew what these feelings were.
I spent hours on the internet looking for help, tried all sorts of herbal remedies and joined some local NHS groups. As a highly anxious person looking for answers I left no rock unturned, every crazy thought you could think of passed through my mind as to why I was feeling this way and if only I had met the man who finally helped me out of this nightmare back then I could have enjoyed my young adult life so much more.
The NHS do such a good job with physical illnesses, and they have saved my life before now when my appendix was close to bursting and became so swollen it tagged onto my liver and caused a liver infection, but when I asked for help regarding my panic attacks I was given the worst piece of advice that I have ever been given regarding anxiety.
I was driving through Ilford looking for their mental health unit thinking I would go mad if I didnt get there, I had sweat dripping off me and I was in a real state. I rang them asking them where they were as I needed to come in and speak to someone and the counsellor on the other end of the phone did nothing to ease the intense feelings of panic that was gripping my body and twisting & churning my stomach. I asked in desperation ‘How do I stop these feelings, how do I get rid of my anxiety?’ and he replied ‘You cant, you just have to live with it’.
At that point my heart sank and I felt like my head may explode, I was at an all time low and sought immediate medical advice from the local Doctor. As so often in these cases I was fobbed off with Beta Blockers and Anti Depressants, the standard response to an issue that Doctors just dont understand.
The modern day Dr has a host of tools to help them establish the cause of a physical illness and as soon as you arrive they punch your details in to the computer and the computer gives them a suitable solution to the problem. Unfortunately heavily medicating someone with chemicals that effect your mental state is the response that the computer offers when it comes to anxiety.
This is a short term fix to your problems and although short term you wont feel quite so anxious I can assure you that you are unlikely to feel much at all as your emotions in general are numbed. Long term is where the issues will arise as unfortunately weaning yourself off the chemicals may cause rebound anxiety which feels worse than the original anxiety that you were trying to combat.
Do not fear though, there are simpler solutions that do not involve chemicals and that can make you anxiety free to live life to the full once again and I want to introduce you to the method that has given me my life back.
This method was developed by someone who knew what I was going through, someone who had been where I was, someone who wanted to help other sufferers, someone who had developed a method to help other sufferers and someone who has committed the rest of his life to ensuring other sufferers become well again.
That man is Charles Linden and his method, the only method that I have found that really works, is the Linden method.
